Historic South End located just 4 minutes from Dilworth is known for one of the largest gold mines in Charlotte. The Rudisill Gold Mine. In 1830, Count Chevalier Vincent de Rivafinoli, with the assistance of his trained staff (men from France, England, Germany, Italy, Wales, Ireland, Scotland and Switzerland) managed the Rudisill Gold Mine. This mine created great wealth for many in Charlotte and contributed to the development of the City of Charlotte. As you travel down South Blvd. and cross over East Park you will be in Historic South End until you reach East Morehead. This neighborhood has a flare of its own with beautiful art galleries, bars/pubs and restaurants. This urban enclave consists of condos/townhomes and parks (i.e. Little Sugar Creek Greenway, Freedom Park).
